MANILA – Former President Fidel V. Ramos will launch the Rotary International District 3780’s 25th anniversary commemorative book coinciding with the tribute to District Governors at the Pandanggo Hall of Manila Hotel on August 11.
This was announced by District 3780 Gov. Jose Francisco “Jess” Cifra who said the coffee table book titled “EMBRACE: The Heart of Service” is an impassioned effort to chronicle some of the most life-changing and heart warming project of the district’s various clubs.
“It also serves as the most viable reference containing the history of Rotary International, Rotary Philippines and R.I. District 3780, it’s leaders and all its members and what they have stood for since becoming part of the century-old service organization that is Rotary,” Governor Cifra said.
It is co-published by the RI District 3780 and Media Touchstone Ventures Inc. through its professional team of writers, researchers and artists led by veteran writer-biographer and now Rotary Club of Cubao West President Melandrew T. Velasco. Over the past decade, Velasco has produced 10 historical biographies and scholarly books on some of the country’s most influential political and cultural characters with the Ramos Peace and Development Foundation Inc.
In line with this year’s Rotary theme, “Reach Within to Embrace Humanity,” Embrace also tells the story of a long-standing challenge embraced by Rotarians all over the world: to serve others above self, and how this challenge is brought to life by the efforts carried out by Rotary International District 3780.
